Layering clothes has been a hot buzzword for years, but how do you pamper your skin by layering different products? The Korean cosmetic brand The Skin House, which recently arrived in Estonia, offers a pleasant surprise with its products and the art of using them. But do you really need to apply four layers of different products to your face? Let your skin make the decision.
The Korean cosmetic brand The Skin House is finally in Estonia! I chose the Wrinkle Supreme series products. This anti-aging line contains ginseng root extract and various mushroom extracts. The Wrinkle Supreme series is perfect for preventing aging and puts up a good fight against fine lines.
In this series, the star of the show is Panax ginseng extract, which is rich in nutrients, fights environmental stress, and helps the skin look more vibrant, radiant, and elastic again. By the way, ginseng has a unique rejuvenating effect and is widely used in Asian medicine and cosmetics. Ginseng is also famous for stimulating the skin’s own ability to synthesize collagen.

After reading all the information about the Wrinkle Supreme series, I felt it was exactly what should land on my nightstand. Who wouldn’t want to push all signs of aging and fatigue far, far away?
The first night… One jar and three bottles
Looking at these beautiful glass jars and bottles, it soon becomes clear what a home beauty ritual means. The series includes a toner, emulsion, serum, and cream. My first question was: do I really have to apply all these products one after another, and won’t my skin get oily? But after the very first time, I realized that all four products have a very light texture and complement each other.
The beauty ritual goes like this: after cleansing, apply toner to the face and neck to quickly hydrate the skin, restore its pH balance, and prevent it from drying out after washing with water. Traditionally, the toner’s job is to prepare the skin for better absorption of other cosmetics, and it’s recommended to do this within just 3–5 seconds after washing your face.

After the toner, apply a serum, which contains active ingredients in a concentrated form and penetrates deep into the skin. After the serum, you can also apply an emulsion. The latter is a very light cream that strengthens and complements the serum’s effect. If you feel your skin is sufficiently nourished, the emulsion can even replace the cream. However, this series also includes a cream that can be applied as a finishing touch over both the serum and emulsion, especially if the skin needs even more hydration and nourishment.
My skin… Just like a hungry cat!
Looking at these luxurious glass bottles, I decided to go through the entire skincare routine on the first night and see how my skin would react. The toner is pleasantly rich and absorbs quickly. After that, I use the serum, which also absorbs in no time, and then add a light emulsion, massaging it gently into my face and neck. Having applied these two products, I feel like my skin is like a hungry cat needing a hearty meal after a long journey.
Hmm… Should I add the cream too? I’ll give it a try. I let the serum and emulsion work on my skin for a bit and then apply a drop of cream to my face and neck. The cream is also incredibly light, and now I realize these four products have come into my life at just the right time. My skin is clearly hungry enough to gratefully accept everything I offer it that evening. I also add eye cream, and my long day fades into the night. Waking up in the morning, I wonder if my skin will be overly shiny. But no, it looks perfectly fine. This is how my pleasantly long evening ritual with The Skin House products began, and for a month and a half now, I’ve found it to be a relaxing prelude to falling asleep.

Over the years, my weakness has been various face masks. And The Skin House surprises with the wonderful Black Snail Bubble mask. It’s an experience in itself—the mask foams more and more on your face while deep-cleansing the pores. The result is squeaky-clean skin with minimized pores. This 100 ml mask is truly in a class of its own!
A month and a half later…
A month and a half later, I no longer wonder if I need all three products; instead, I listen to my skin. Sometimes I only use the serum and emulsion, but most nights I also add the cream. We all know that while we sleep, our skin is busy, and if it enjoys such a rich feast, we should provide it. And don’t forget the neck and décolletage, as they want their share too.
In the morning, it’s a different story. I don’t necessarily use all four products then. Sometimes I only apply serum after the toner, other times just the cream, and occasionally the serum, emulsion, and cream all go on at once. Plus, when I apply makeup on top, it doesn’t get shiny at all.
The Skin House has several other similar four-step series, and I’ve already promised myself that once I finish the Wrinkle Supreme line, I plan to test their White Tightening series in the summer, which tightens pores and brightens the skin. Until then, I’ve been rewarding my skin nicely with Wrinkle Supreme products. I don’t have visible wrinkles yet, but every six months I do an intensive treatment to help prevent aging. A month and a half after starting with The Skin House products, I can say that the general winter fatigue that sets in by February has been wiped away from my skin. It’s worth noting that this result goes hand in hand with a proper diet and enough sleep, as creams alone can’t work miracles if we don’t support them with a “moderation in everything” lifestyle.
